mayor_samwise I could write a novel about this song--the first of Howlie's published ones I heard and to me, still the most beautiful. The harmonies are like nothing I've ever heard. It's amazing how the lyrics "wrap" around from verse to verse, like the singer's thoughts overflowing, losing some control. I love this song in so many ways!

about

Hesitance at it's finest. An embarrassingly specific song about romanticizing someone even before one has had a conversation with them.

lyrics

Alaina, your hair covers your eyes.
I love to romanticize about the thought of you and I hangin' together.
I'm walking by your work to watch you at the deli counter,
Clouds are crawlin' faster than I think of words to say.
Mumbling colloquialisms about the day.
Oh, Alaina, you're fragile and refined.
My friend just blew my mind: he claims you're married, and he thinks he knows your husband.
I should've taken your baby bump as an indication.
No pain has felt this real in a real long time (not to mention that your husband has a D.U.I).
Oh, Alaina, I'm a moth in your flame.
