about
I've been holding on to this one since February 2020 after a phase of mass-consuming McCartney's contributions to the White Album, namely the saccharine-sweet "I Will." When I wrote this, along with my last single, I unknowingly opened the flood gates of writing very sappy love songs about her as opposed to the last 6 years of writing some of the most miserable, depressing stuff saturated in Beach Boys harmonies. It was a very welcome change to realize that I can, in fact, write cute love songs from an optimistic perspective- just one of the many areas of growth within me over the last two years.
lyrics
Picture you before I meet you
I wonder who you are
I want to get you in my bedroom, I'll settle for my car
I'm nervous making small talk with you, but I love who you are
I want to get you in my life, but I'll settle for my car
You keep me laughing
You are my friend
I'll miss you every weekday and every weekend
I'm happy that I got to make a memory with you
'Cause when you leave, I don't know what I'll do
You look at me and tell a story,
We walk under the stars
I want to tell you that I love you, but I won't get that far
I fantasize about you even when you're in front of me
You make me feel young but I want you to get old with me
You keep me laughing
You are my friend
I'll miss you every weekday and every weekend
I'm happy that I got to take a Polaroid of you
'Cause when you leave I don't know what I'll do
